Hoops Connect teamed up with GoFest to deliver brilliant festivals of sport to families in Guildford and Manchester in 2017. This year sees those festivals return, as well as the introduction of two mini-festivals in Manchester, the first of which took place on Saturday February 3. And the Hoops Connect team were there to join in the fun once more…

A rainy Saturday in Manchester may not be the first place that comes to mind when you consider where you could find hundreds of excited kids playing over 15 different sports at the beginning of February, but that’s exactly what GoFest brought to the Etihad Campus last week.

From athletics to badminton, dance fitness to discus, basketball to VX, it was great to see so many happy faces playing different sports.

GoFest is a fantastic reminder of the power of sport to make people happy.

With so many sports available, there really is something for everybody. But to a certain extent the actual sport is irrelevant – it’s the thrill of competition, the enthusiasm that’s enlivened by activity and the camaraderie between teammates and opposition that put those grins on children’s faces.

And it wasn’t just the kids who were enjoying themselves, as the Hoops Connect team threw themselves into the activities whole-heartedly.

Our company’s ethos is centred around helping people find happiness and fitness through sport, and we live by our own principles.

And that’s why we love getting out of the office and attending these events – we just love getting involved and getting competitive!

Meeting up with old friends

We met our partners VX at the first GoFest back in May 2017, and it was great to catch up with the guys again, especially founder Paul, who was crowned our latest Hoops Hero just last month.

VX is a fantastic, all-action sport and the Hoops Connect team had two gladiatorial face offs that went down to the wire.

Founder Jonas and Communications Manager Andy went head-to-head, with Andy’s experience – gained at GoFest’s past – giving him a slight edge in a 16-14 victory.

Then it was the turn of the ladies, with new Social Media Manager Sophie producing a late surge to secure an exciting draw with Hoops Connect ambassador Brigita.

Thanks VX, see you again soon!

So much more to come

The next mini-GoFest is lined up for April – and we can’t wait, not least because we’ll have some very exciting news about our company to release in the build-up. GoFest will be a perfect way to celebrate.

Then we have the full festivals, taking place in Manchester at the end of June, and Guildford end of July.

So there’s plenty of time to pick up tickets, and trust us, they come highly recommended. Click here to secure your place.

Hopefully we’ll see you there!
